NOVA FOUNDATION UPDATE

The NOVA Foundation Board of Directors met in Washington, DC on January 12 and 13. Jayma Hall, RN, MSN, CNAA, BC began a two-year term as the NOVA Foundation Chair in January. She recently retired as the Nurse Executive from the Northampton, Massachusetts VA Medical Center.
The NOVA Foundation was established in 1997 by the NOVA Board of Directors. It is the charitable arm of NOVA and is a 501(c)(3) organization. The Organization's mission is to fund VA nurse education and research, and to improve healthcare for veterans and the nation. Since its inception, the NOVA Foundation has awarded 72 scholarships to VA nurses to help them further their education. Eight grants to VA nurse researchers have provided funding for eight pilot projects which improve VA clinical care to veterans.
The NOVA Foundation Board is committed to raising $120,000 in 2005 for VA nurse scholarships and research.
The NOVA Foundation is holding its Annual Gala on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, 6:00 - 10:00 pm, at the Crystal City Hyatt Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The Gala will include:

- A ceremony honoring NOVA's past leaders.
- A Silent Auction.
- Opportunities to network with our VA nurse colleagues, from across the nation as well as with our leaders from Congress, and VA Central Office.

The NOVA Foundation invites all past NOVA leaders - Presidents, Officers, Directors, and others - to the Gala, for the recognition ceremony.
NOVA is celebrating its 25th Anniversary as an Organization this year. NOVA's 25th Annual Meeting, "Challenging the Future: New Veterans, New Nurses, New Opportunities. Celebrating 25 Years of Caring for America's Veterans", will be held Thursday, April 21 through Saturday, April 23 at the Crystal City Hilton, Arlington, Virginia.
