INNOVATIVE RECRUITMENT & RETENTION STRATEGIES
Share Your Innovations With NOVA
Deadline: March 1, 2006
As the nursing shortage continues, nurses nationwide in both the private and government sectors need to be creative to recruit young nurses as they enter the workforce and retain those senior nurses who may be eligible for retirement. Recruitment and retention doesn't just apply to the nurses entering and exiting the workforce, but nurses in all stages of their professional careers and is a critical element in adequately staffing VA facilities. The Editorial Board of a new publication, modeRN, is seeking innovative recruitment and retention strategies. You can explore this new journal at www.modernnurse.com
The NOVA Board at a recent meeting acknowledged the many innovations used by nurse recruiters and others in the VA. They believe a compelling article can be compiled, but we need your input. Please e-mail innovative strategies you have utilized to Deborah Beck, NOVA Executive Director, by March 1. An article will be composed and forwarded to the Editorial Board; if you have photographs or visuals, these will make the article more interesting and compelling. ModeRN Magazine is a new publication whose primary mission is to inform and support the new RN or LPN graduate, as they transition to their new nursing career. Thus, we would be very interested in programs you have found successful in attracting and retaining new graduates to your medical center.
This is your opportunity to toot your own horn, share with your nursing colleagues VA achievements and get your name listed in a national nursing publication!
Don't forget to respond by March 1.
