Shaping and influencing health care
within the Department of Veterans Affairs

AUGUST 18, 2005

It is with great sadness that I tell you of the diagnosis of cancer for one of our NOVA Board Members, Linda-Dell Archuleta from the Salem, Virginia VA Medical Center (Station 658). Linda is a staff nurse in the Special Procedures unit. She is also certified in holistic medicine, particularly acupuncture. Linda joined the NOVA Board of Directors in 2003, and she brought insights from the perspective of a staff nurse, as well as a holistic healer.

Linda has brain cancer, in addition to some lesions on her lungs. She underwent surgery on Monday, August 15th, and remains in guarded condition in the ICU. Linda has a daughter, the mother of two twin boys -- the joy of Linda's life! Many of Linda's capital assets have gone to support her daughter and her grandchildren, as well as her horses, the other love of her life.

Linda is now in need of our assistance, in the form of annual leave donations (from VA employees), or financial contributions from NOVA supporters. VA employees can ask their fiscal office for a leave donation request form and donate annual leave, either via paper form or on their local VA intranet. Personal monetary contributions can be sent to:

Linda-Dell Archuleta
3231 Lawndale Avenue, SW
Roanoke, VA 24018

There is a saying: "Life is what happens while we are busy making plans." Linda has many plans -- we can help her realize them. Thank you for your support.
