Joan Clifford, RN, MSM has held numerous roles within the VA since 1979, including Staff Nurse, Nurse Manager, Nursing Coordinator and Associate Chief Nurse. She is currently Associate Chief Nurse for Specialty and Acute for the VA Boston Healthcare System, and is a leader and participant in numerous interdisciplinary groups, development of policies/procedures incorporating local and national standards, and Labor-Management activities.
Ms. Clifford received her BSN from Salem State College in 1979; and her MSM from Emmanuel College in 2001. She has been a NOVA Member since the 1980's, and is the current President of NOVA Chapter 226 where she also served as Past President, Vice-President and Membership Secretary. She is also a member of ANA, Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses (MARN), and the National Association of Female Executives (NAFE).
Joan has stated her goal as a member of the Board of Directors to be: "to strive to increase the grass roots approach to legislative action, encouraging local chapters to establish legislative liaisons, involving local chapters in communicating with their representatives in the House and Congress. This will support NOVA nurses' proactiveness, keeping their representatives informed of their priorities."
