VA Nurses care for over 5,000,000 American Veterans. The NOVA Foundation helps make sure it's the best care possible.
They're on the front lines 24 hours a day, every day. They tend the wounds received defending our freedom. They administer the care and medications. They help our brave warriors heal their broken bodies and spirits. They bring comfort, compassion, and hope.
America's VA Nurses are the healthcare professionals caring for our wounded and disabled veterans. Often, they are the primary ambassadors of the gratitude of our nation.
The NOVA Foundation is dedicated to the advancement of VA Nursing. Through our scholarships, research grants, and educational programs, we help VA Nurses deliver outstanding care to America's heroes.

Scholarships. The NOVA Foundation provides scholarships to VA staff for nursing study in accredited baccalaureate and post-graduate programs. Such educational programs are vital to ensure a pool of qualified VA nurses to care for our aging veteran population and our newest generation of veterans injured or traumatized in recent conflicts.

Research Grants. No one has more contact with veterans than VA nurses -- and so VA nurses are particularly qualified to identify areas of VA health care to most benefit from research. The NOVA Foundation provides funding for projects that have scientific merit and are most likely to provide benefit to the greatest number of veterans. Recent grants have supported projects related to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), one of the most widespread, debilitating disorders affecting veterans returning from war.
The NOVA Foundation in collaboration with the DAV Charitable Trust is currently requesting proposals for a $5,000 Research Grant, for projects related to developing better ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease and promote health in veterans. Submission deadling is April 30, 2007. For full details and application instructions, Click Here.
The William S. Bergman Memorial Research Fund has been established to support a VA nurse researcher whose study is in the area of infectious disease. A research grant is currently available (submission deadline is March 1, 2007). Click Here for details.

Leadership and Advocacy. Inherent in the NOVA Foundation's mission is building awareness of the need to recruit, retain, and continuously train qualified VA nurses. To that end, the NOVA Foundation has been active on Capitol Hill and in other venues to help our nation understand the needs of VA nurses and the veterans they serve.
