WASHINGTON D.C. February 5, 2021 – The Nurses Organization of Veterans Affairs (NOVA), asks Congress and the Administration to protect VA healthcare by strengthening services and its workforce. NOVA’s 2021 Legislative Priority Goals, released today, focus on ensuring a strong budget, providing PPE and resources to support staff safety as we continue battling the pandemic, and most importantly, recruiting and retaining a highly qualified nursing workforce.
NOVA President, Kelly D. Skinner, DNP, APRN, NP-C, GNP-BC, CRRN, WCC, CFCN, noted “VA must be given the tools to hire and retain healthcare professionals to combat coronavirus and to take care of the millions of Veterans we serve.”
This year has shown what VA healthcare professionals provided Veterans and the community during COVID-19. “VA workforce have been called to go above and beyond and met that challenge. We urge Congress and the Administration to support a strong budget so that VA can continue delivering care and services to the millions of Veterans it serves”, she said.
NOVA believes that VA has proven it is uniquely qualified to provide timely access to high quality care in a setting designed to understand those who have served and sacrificed in today’s modern military. To read our 2021 Legislative Priority Goals – click here.
