The NOVA Annual Conference is a professional meeting and an elective conference that provides education and training for professional development and skills enhancement. It provides Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) contact hours. This program will provide 13.0 NCPD contact hours. Here is some information that you can use for training justification. How the Program Will Improve My Competency/How I Will Apply It To My Job:
This program will improve my competency because I will be able to summarize changes in the promotion process for VA nurses, including identifying the revised qualification standards for RNs and APNs. I will be able to describe a positive impact on patient care with the use of phototherapy provided to treat veterans’ skin conditions. I will be able to provide care to veteran family members by describing the organ and tissue donation process in the VA. I will be able to provide a positive impact on patient care by identifying care for patients with cognitive impairment. I will be able to provide a positive impact on patient care by identifying ways that I can work with members of Veterans Service Organizations and legislative assistants/Members of Congress to strengthen partnerships to work together to benefit veterans and VA nurses. I will be able to identify strategies to improve nurse safety in today’s workplace. I will be able to provide a positive impact on nursing staff members by sharing information on self-care practices for VA nurses. I will be able to identify the priorities of the Office of Nursing Services to strengthen the nursing workforce within the VA.
