Women Veteran Health Navigator, Adrin L. Hamilton, MSN, RN, coordinated a Women Veterans Baby Shower for the Columbia VAHCS and the surrounding CBOCs on December 5, 2020.

The Columbia VA Women’s Health Program along with Voluntary Services and community partners hosted a drive-thru baby shower for our expectant Women Veterans. Each mother-to-be Veteran was greeted with a self-care bag that included the following items: 

• Women Veterans’ self-care backpacks

• Bags filled with baby essentials, such as diapers, wipes, onesies, and educational materials

• Snack bags with cookbooks for the mother-to-be Veterans

The Women Veterans also received a car seat, a pack-n-play and a $25 Walmart gift card while adhering to COVID-19 social distancing mandates during the baby shower event. 

The Columbia VAHCS “showered” nineteen (19) Women Veterans families and the goal was to serve at least 50% of those enrolled in the Columbia VAHCS. 

NOVA Chapter 362 donated the baby items as a community-outreach initiative to the event.
